This was pretty good! I haven't finished it yet, had to call it quits for today, but it's enjoyable so far and has a good balance of complexity and fact-feeding to make it enjoyable. Would have felt more authentic without the AI but it's still good and I understand the benefit of doing it that way. Nice work!
I think it's fun to piece together the information, but I think there were a bit too many red herrings for me, haha. I especially had major problems trying to log in to the first account (the one with the user/password). Might be helpful if the game gives more hints when they see the player is struggling.
Anyway, I got really close to the answer and got the right culprit, method, and evidence, so I'm pretty happy.
Looking forward to more games in the future -- and hopefully you can collaborate with artists to create original artwork, or use public domain assets. ^^
Thanks very much for making the effort of finding a device to play the game. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I also agree a hint system would be good. As per the red herrings... maybe I need to cut down on them a bit too, but I was kind of satisfied with the balance. Anyway, your comments are all fair. Thanks very much again! :) :)
Thanks very much for you comment. How big is your screen? I am afraid this game is optimized for 1600x900+ monitors, which is the kind of devices I use.
I feel my games are getting better, but I still stumble upon things like making them playable for as many people as possible. My apologies.
I see. I developed this game on a 27" screen, so text size always looked fine to me, but I just checked with a laptop and the text is a bit small. You're right. I need to keep those accessibility guidelines in mind from now on.
I really enjoyed how the mystery was put together- a mystery game rarely makes me feel like a detective piecing together a solution like this! I appreciated how there was a lot of information available, not just the barebones clues to lead you to the answer. was this inspired by "The Roottrees are Dead"?
personally, I don't have any issues with the use of AI in this project. I imagine that without image generation, the game might not have had art at all. And if English isn't your mother tongue, who can fault you for using AI to make the language more natural?!
Thanks very much for your comment. A lot of effort went into this game, so I'm really glad you enjoyed it!! :) :) :)
Like you say, I wanted the player to see how the whole story came together as if it was a real life situation. It means a lot of reading, but I also think it can be rewarding if you're willing to read through the clues.
I have played the Roottrees, but my main inspiration was the Unsolved Case Files (board game, not videogame). If you liked this game you might like that too!
If you can't draw, then don't use AI. you can use gacha life or something than ai. like you word hard to mak this game, but because the AI art. it makes the game bad
Many good games out there use AI, including some in this jam, so I don't think AI art makes a game 'good' or 'bad'. As far as I'm concerned AI is just another game development tool. :)
But I do appreciate your opinion. I did put a lot of time into making this game, so I hope at least you enjoyed playing it. :)
Thanks very much for your comment. English is not my mother tongue and this was quite a big project to tackle alone, so AI really helped me get it finished. Mind you, I did edit a lot of the text to make the story consistent. The same goes for the art. It took me quite some effort to develop a consistent style across the game. :)
Regarding the creativity, I think the main thing is how you develop your mystery and the way you design the hints to provide an enjoyable experience for the player. In the end, that's what mattered to me: to provide a game I would enjoy playing myself (if I didn't know the solution already). :)

Quite fun and well-put together. Really good UI!

Also the store page is well-put together too

Hello, we tried to play your game, but unfortunately the font size is way too small for us. Could you add an option to adjust it? >.<

It’s a 14inch laptop, 1920*1080. Also our eyesight has been failing us in recent years, so font size adjustment is a wonderful option to have.
Sorry for the inconvenience, we’ll see if we could play the game some way or another.

One of us managed to play the game and already posted a review :)
That's so kind of you! :)
Do you have a link to the review? I'd love to read it!

its kind of weird that you used AI for writing in a game jam about writing, like wheres the creativity?
